Wasp & Bee Control in Dubai & UAE

A wasp nest on a balcony or near a doorway is a sting risk that escalates quickly once the colony matures. We treat the nest with residual insecticide, neutralise the colony, and remove the nest structure. Fixed quote from a photo assessment on WhatsApp — from AED 280.

What you get

Wasp and bee nests grow fast — a nest started in spring by a single queen can hold 500–1,500 workers by summer. Early treatment is significantly easier, less expensive, and less risky than treating a mature colony. If you've spotted a nest or unusual stinging insect activity near your property, contact us early.

Our treatment neutralises the colony using a residual insecticide applied directly to the nest, then removes the nest structure where accessible. For swarms (bees clustered on a surface without a nest), we advise on relocation options where feasible.

  • Photo assessment via WhatsApp — Send a photo for immediate identification and a fixed quote without a site visit for most standard nests
  • Residual insecticide treatment — Applied directly to the nest entrance and structure; reaches the entire colony including those not present at the time of treatment
  • Nest removal — Physical removal of the nest structure after the colony is neutralised, where safely accessible
  • Cavity inspection — If the nest is inside a wall cavity or AC duct, we assess access requirements and treat accordingly
  • Exclusion advice — Guidance on sealing potential re-colonisation points after removal

Common stinging insects in the UAE

Paper wasps (Polistes species)

The most common stinging insect pest in UAE properties. Paper wasps build open, umbrella-shaped nests made from chewed wood pulp — often found under balcony overhangs, in AC unit housings, under eaves, and in garden furniture. Colonies are moderately aggressive when the nest is disturbed. A mature paper wasp nest holds 50–250 workers.

Treatment: Direct residual insecticide application to the nest at dusk (when all workers are present). Nest removal after 24 hours once the colony is neutralised.

Honeybees (Apis mellifera)

Generally non-aggressive and an important pollinator — we always assess whether relocation is feasible before recommending chemical treatment. Honeybee swarms (a mass of bees clustered on a tree, wall, or furniture without a built nest) are temporary and may disperse naturally within 1–3 days as the swarm moves to a new location. An established honeybee colony inside a wall cavity or roof space is a different situation — it will produce significant honeycomb that attracts secondary pests if not fully removed.

Hornets

Less common in UAE but occasionally encountered, particularly in green areas and villa gardens with established trees. Hornets are larger and more aggressive than paper wasps and can sting multiple times. Do not attempt DIY treatment. WhatsApp us a photo — if we confirm hornets, same-day treatment is recommended.

What not to do before we arrive

  • Don't spray the nest with consumer wasp spray — Most consumer sprays have a 1–2m range. Getting close enough to use them on an active nest risks aggressive defensive stinging. Agitating the nest without neutralising it also causes workers to disperse — making treatment harder.
  • Don't block the nest entrance — Blocking the entrance traps workers inside the nest initially but doesn't kill the colony. Trapped workers will find alternative exits, which can mean inside the property.
  • Don't light fires or use smoke — Effective for traditional beekeeping in specialised conditions; not safe or effective for residential wasp or bee control.
  • Do keep residents away from the nest area — Maintain a 3–5m clearance and avoid areas where you've seen stinging activity until treatment is complete.

Don't wait for the nest to grow.

Frequently asked questions

Are the bees or wasps I see in Dubai dangerous?
The most common stinging insects in the UAE are paper wasps (Polistes species), which are moderately aggressive when their nest is threatened, and honeybees (Apis mellifera), which are generally non-aggressive unless provoked or during swarming. The less common but more aggressive species is the Asian hornet — significantly larger than a wasp, with a more painful sting. If you're seeing large, aggressive insects near a wall cavity or tree, don't approach the nest — WhatsApp us a photo for identification before attempting any DIY.
Can I remove a wasp or bee nest myself?
We strongly advise against DIY nest removal for any nest beyond a very small, early-stage paper wasp comb (fewer than 10 cells, no visible larvae). Active nests contain hundreds to thousands of individuals that will defend the nest aggressively when disturbed. Consumer aerosol wasp sprays have limited reach and require you to be very close to the nest. We treat nests with a residual insecticide that reaches the entire nest population before any physical removal.
Will bees come back after nest removal?
If the nest structure is removed and the cavity is treated, the probability of re-colonisation is low. If only the swarm is dispersed but the nest cells remain, scout bees will find the residual wax and honey scent and may return within weeks. We remove the nest structure where accessible after the colony is neutralised.
What is the difference between bee removal and bee relocation?
Bee relocation involves capturing the swarm or colony alive and transferring it to a managed hive. This is the preferred approach for honeybee swarms (a mass of bees without a nest structure — typically found on a tree branch or external wall for 1–3 days during swarming season). Relocation requires a beekeeper willing to accept the colony. For established nests inside wall cavities or AC ducts, chemical treatment followed by removal of the nest structure is the only practical option.
How much does wasp or bee nest removal cost in Dubai?
AED 280–600 for most residential jobs depending on nest size and access difficulty. Nests in accessible locations (external eaves, balcony corners) are at the lower end. Nests inside wall cavities, AC ducts, or roof spaces are priced higher due to access and treatment complexity. WhatsApp us a photo and we'll quote the specific job.
