What is the difference between fumigation and regular pest control?
Fumigation uses a gas or fog to fill an enclosed space and kill pests on contact. Regular pest control (gel bait, residual spray) uses targeted product placement with residual effect. Fumigation is fast and provides immediate knockdown; regular treatment is more effective for colony elimination because it transfers through populations over time. We recommend fumigation as a preparatory step for severe infestations, followed by residual treatment — not as a standalone solution for German cockroaches.
How long do I need to stay out during fumigation?
For standard chemical fogging: 4–6 hours minimum. Open all windows and doors when you return and ventilate for at least 30 minutes before settling in. For heat fumigation (if applicable): typically 6–8 hours. Your technician will give you a specific time based on the treatment applied.
Is fumigation safe for children and pets?
All products we use are UAE Municipality-approved for residential fumigation. Children and pets must vacate during treatment and for the full re-entry period. Fish tanks and reptile enclosures must be covered or removed before fumigation — aquatic animals and reptiles are more sensitive to airborne chemicals than mammals. Birds should be removed from the property entirely.
Do I need to cover food and furniture before fumigation?
Food: seal or remove all open food items and uncovered produce. Sealed food in original packaging inside closed cupboards is fine. Furniture: no covers needed for standard fog — the fog dissipates within hours. Remove children's toys from treated surfaces. Wipe kitchen countertops before use after re-entry.
What pests does fumigation treat?
Fumigation is effective against cockroaches (knockdown), mosquitoes, flies, fleas, and crawling insects in general. It is not a primary treatment for bed bugs (eggs survive), termites (requires structural fumigation at a different concentration and protocol), or rodents (fumigation doesn't kill rodents). For these pests, targeted treatment methods are more effective.
